Where Art Meets Law: Eduardo Juárez
Born in San Antonio's vibrant Westside, I've always believed in the transformative power of both law and art. After three decades navigating complex legal landscapes, I've founded Eduardo Juárez Art Law, PLLC to unite my passion for creativity with my legal expertise.
My journey took me from the University of Notre Dame to the University of Michigan Law School, then to Chicago's Sidley & Austin before spending a decade as a Trial Attorney with the DC Public Defender Service. For 20 years, I fought for workplace civil rights as a Trial Attorney and Supervisor with the EEOC in San Antonio.
Throughout my career, I've led as President of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association and Chair of the Texas LGBTQ+ Law Section, while championing lawyer well-being through the Texas Lawyers' Assistance Program.
Why art law? My niece, a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, showed me firsthand the challenges artists face. As a collector and former board member of a local performance arts organization, I've witnessed how proper legal protection can allow creativity to flourish.
Today, I combine sophisticated legal strategies with genuine appreciation for an artist's unique needs. While I'm newer to art law specifically, my extensive legal background and personal connection to the arts community provide a fresh perspective that benefits both established and emerging artists seeking to protect their legacies.
Y hablo Español!
When not practicing law, you'll find me supporting the Bexar Area Harm Reduction Coalition, attending an arts related event, or visiting an art museum.
